The inaugural exhibition of Geoff’s media collaboration project with artist Todd Siler is about to open at the Armory, Pier 94, New York City on March 6th-9th. Titled Nanoworld, the project considers new ways of synthesizing and responsibly applying nanomaterials and critiques the significant impact these developments are having on the natural environment. The show is sponsored by Ronald Feldman Fine Arts.
Our group’s research on solar fuels was recently highlighted in a National Post article on the topic of artificial photosynthesis. Dr. Ozin was interviewed for the article and provides his opinion on the state of progress in the field.
Our group’s recent review on molecularly imprinted SiO2 has just been published online in Chemical Society Reviews.

Geoff has recently been honoured with a hanging poster as part of U of T’s Boundless fundraising campaign. The campaign recognizes U of T faculty, administrators, and alumni that have made a lasting contribution to the university.
The poster will be hanging on Willcocks St. immediately outside the Chemistry Department building.
Since the inauguration of our project on Solar Fuels at the University of Toronto, the Solar Fuels research team has made significant strides towards artificial photosynthesis materials, which can mimic the production of energy rich fuels by biological photosynthesis.
This project has required the synergistic integration of a wide range of science and engineering fields and skill-sets. To this end, the Solar Fuels team leader, Professor Ozin, has assembled a unique team of world-class expertise at U of T, which includes know-how from chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, climate science and economics, law and business, across campus and beyond.
We now confident that we possess the required expertise and momentum to transition this research towards practical artificial photosynthetic materials, devices and processes in the coming years.

Professor Ozin recently celebrated his 70th birthday in Munich, Germany. He presented a lecture outlining some of the significant research accomplishments of the group to mark the occasion.
